Stillness in Life – Will You Pause or Will Life Make You?

Life today feels like an endless marathon. We wake up, rush to work, come back home, and before we know it, the cycle repeats. We rarely stop to think—what are we running towards? And more importantly, what are we leaving behind?

But sometimes, life forces us to pause—to observe, to feel, and to reflect on whether we are headed in the right direction.

That’s exactly what happened to me today. Every day, I take the same road, too busy to notice my surroundings. But today, stuck in traffic, I was forced to stop. And that’s when I saw it—the world hidden beneath the flyover. A world I had never really looked at before.

Families living in makeshift tents, children playing barefoot in the dirt, people struggling for the bare necessities of life. It hit me hard.

Where do they sleep in the winter?
Where do they go when it rains?
Do their children ever go to school?

For us, that road is just a means to get from one place to another. But for them, that very road is life itself.

Are We Truly Seeing?

Buddha once asked, “When will you pause?” And honestly, that’s the real question we need to ask ourselves.

We think we are present, but are we really?
We talk to family, but are we truly listening?
We chase happiness, but are we actually happy?

Maybe, in this race for success, we are unknowingly running toward loneliness. We think we are achieving everything, yet the most valuable things—love, connection, peace—are slipping through our fingers.

So Pause. Reflect. Observe.

The beauty of life is not in the rush, but in the moments of stillness. Because only when we stop, do we truly see.

Don’t wait for life to force you to pause—take that moment now, before it’s too late.
